WEDDING ANNIVERSARY: 6/22
Larrie and Carol Bunyan joined IFM in 1980. After deputation and serving short term in northern Manitoba, Canada, the Lord directed them to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana, where they have ministered since 1985. The Bunyans have planted Whitetail Baptist Church in the community of Heart Butte. With the ultimate goal of indigenization of the church, they continue evangelizing, discipling, and training, as well as the ordinary visiting/counseling pastoral ministry.
Larrie and Carol have three young adult children (one of whom is married) and one granddaughter.
Excerpts from their recent Prayer Update (March 2010):
We are winding down our AWANA season. Several of our workers are in agriculture and are “in the field” for long hours beginning in April, so our AWANA season is abbreviated from the norm. We have consistently had 30-35 kids attend. Some weeks we have had nearly 50. This outreach ministry has its trying moments, but the Lord has blessed with many opportunities to preach the Gospel and speak personally of Christ. We praise the Lord for the faithful group of church folks (there are 9 workers in addition to Carol and me) who consistently come to help us with this ministry. Last week one troubled little fellow bit his teacher twice. Her response was, “It’s no big deal. It’s just all a part of the battle.” It was an inspirational blessing to see her spiritual fortitude, as many would “throw in the towel” on the spot.
A church about 60 miles from Heart Butte hosts the AWANA Grand Prix Car race each year. They provided cars this year for any of our kids who wished to participate. Seven of our church kids took part, and one of our little girls ended up winning first place out of the 75 contestants. I helped a couple of kids who could not assemble their cars at home, and then we drove four of them to the event Saturday, Feb 27. The other three came with their parents. It was a lot of fun, and a great outing with some of our church kids.
Nathan had a great time at the Montana Special Olympics Winter Games, March 1-2. He competed in three downhill ski events, and won a gold, a silver, and a bronze medal. Nathan has a good testimony for Christ with the staff and volunteers at his Christian group home and we praise the Lord for Nathan’s blessed opportunities. Thank you to those of you give toward Nathan’s needs.
We plan to travel to Northland International University again this April to represent IFM at their annual missions conference. Thank you for praying for our traveling mercies and open doors with students.
We have had more visitors to our services in the last 12 months than we have ever had in our 25 year tenure here. Some come just a few times. Others keep coming periodically. A few have become quite regular. Some are from the Indian “world” and others are from the local farm/ranch culture. It has been exciting to see God moving in hearts and working in lives.
THANK YOU for your faithful support in these challenging economic times. The Lord is good, and His mercy is everlasting! May we all be found faithful at Christ’s return!
Securely His & Sincerely Yours,
Larrie & Carol Bunyan
