September 2009 prayer letter:

Dear Friend,
God is good... all the time... and all the time... God is good! This is the slogan of Grace Community Baptist Church! On August 2nd 2009, we launched the grand opening of Grace Community Baptist Church, Kingstown Park, St. Vincent. Beloved, we are finding the Psalmist words true when he said, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it”. This is definitely not the work of man! We are humbled and excited simultaneously as the Lord is adding to this church weekly! Friends, this is only our fourth Sunday and we are already averaging 65-70 persons on Sunday mornings! In fact we have a good problem in that we are running out of seats! Beloved, please rejoice with us as we are really excited at what God is doing. We are merely along for the ride as the Holy Spirit convict sinners of their need for a savior.

Friends, we have had nine professions of faith at Grace Community Baptist Church. However, we have seen the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of many of the youths that are committed to a life of violence. For example, please be in prayer for one young man. He was attacked by one of his enemies and lost his left eye in the process. Like many of the youths, prior to this attack, this young man would not listen or be interested in the things of God. In fact, on several occasions we were told by him that we must pay him to come to church! Beloved, the word of God is true, while he has not yet made a profession of faith; since he lost his eye (maybe a month ago) he has not ceased to be in church. Last Sunday night, Dexter preached a message on forgiveness and that young man was among the first to say that God had spoken to his heart. Beloved, please pray that God would open his other eye that he might come to the saving knowledge of God.

Friends, please continue to be in prayer for us as the enemy is not happy about the work that is going on in St. Vincent. Another notable incidence occurred a week ago when Dexter was literally in the line of fire. Dexter was sharing to a young man of his need to come to Christ. Coincidentally, a car driven by another young man who evidently had a feud with the young man that Dexter was witnessing to drove up. As a result, some words were exchanged between both men and a gun was pulled. Beloved, as my husband told the church, God gave him the courage and boldness to approach the guy with the gun and speak to him. Thankfully he acquiesced and no one got hurt! Beloved, please be in prayer for us as we have set up camp in the enemies backyard but greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

Friends, once more we thank our God for your incessant help through prayer and finance because this work would not be possible without partners like you. May our wonderful and gracious Lord continue to richly bless you and make you a blessing in the lives of others.
