Brian and Cheri have been serving in the mission field for nearly 11 years. They have served in Johannesburg, South Africa and Kitwe, Zambia and now in Tobago, West Indies. They have 8 children. All of their children help in their ministry. They help with evangelism, visitation, youth work, music, kids clubs, etc. Brian has a degree in radio and has done radio broadcasting in the field. Cheri is a registered nurse and worked in US hospitals for 17 years before going to the mission field. It is their prayer that their children continue to serve and love God with their whole hearts.
Excerpt from their lastest prayer letter:
Thank you for your prayers for our family during our move back to Tobago. It has been a difficult time. It started with a disgruntled immigration official in Trinidad who kept us in customs for several hours, and required extras visas, paperwork, and more fees before we could enter the country. During this time, our luggage was searched and several items taken.
We arrived in Tobago the next day only to find that the apartment we had paid for was occupied. Thankfully, we were able to stay with a friend for a few days while that got sorted out. Then, when we first moved in, there were numerous problems with water, plumbing and security, but we are now getting those resolved. The kids were a great help getting our belongings moved from storage and all the furniture put back together again. We are still on a waiting list for a working telephone line and internet. It has been a challenge to find a place to send our radio broadcasts from Tobago to Carriacou via the internet, but we are thankful we have been able to continue the programs without interruption.
Please pray for Andrew and Matthew, who have returned to Northland and are working there and taking classes. It was hard to see them go, but we are thankful for their heart for God and desire to serve Him. The younger kids have resumed home school here.
I am still pastoring both Hope and Grace for the time being, and training national leadership to pastor Hope so we can concentrate more on our new church work in Scarborough, Grace Baptist Church.
Please pray for our adjustment to the extreme heat and humidity and all that goes with that; including tarantulas and a rat in our bedroom! Thank you so much for all your prayers, support and extra gifts that have been such a big help to us during this transition time. How we praise God for each of you and for the wonderful way that He meets our needs through your giving. We pray that He will richly bless you for your care of us and your burden for a world in need of Jesus Christ!
Serving Him with you,
Brian & Cheri Smith
