Summer 2009 Prayer Letter:
CABC: School break (Mid-term) is finally here. Yeeaaah! We have two weeks off and then back for the rest of the semester. This gives me chance to catch up on my grading and notes for the coming seven weeks are left. My parents have come down from Kenya and we are very encouraged to have them here. My sister, Kristie Elmer (and her husband Dan), have a new baby girl named Margret (AKA "Meg"). I may be biased but she is kinda cute.
GARNETON: Faith Baptist is coming up to its 16th anniversary. My Dad, who started the church, will be here for it. I am going to work through some old home video my parents took back then and put together something for us to remember the "good old days". Pastor Ken has been given much wisdom and has worked through some tough counseling issues recently. I am encouraged that he has seen Biblical counseling really working in hearts.
KAWAMA: The new church plant that Pastor Ken and FBC of Garneton are starting doubled in size this past weekend. Okay, we went from three people to six...bt that is still double. I told Pastor Ken that was probably the last time we would be able to say that. Ba Chirwa is the man who is actually going to lead the church. Ba Chirwa is a deacon at Garneton although plans are underway to ordain him as pastor. I have the privilege of speaking this month and then Pastor Ken will speak next month. This past Sunday we had the man whose house we are meeting in raise his hand to indicate that he needed to "make things right with God."
COPPERBELT CHRISTIAN CAMP: God has kep the camp project on hold for a while but I know that He will open the door in His time. It has been interesting to see the national pastors grow in their desire for a camp. We have not had a camp this year due to lack of property and development. Next week I will go see a farm about a mile and a half away from the church in Garneton. The farm has a house on it, five chicken funs (works for housing teens as well), a hammer mill for grinding corn (a staple here), an orange/lemon orchard already set up for irrigation, and two water pumps. All this on 110 acres selling for a starting price of $343,000.00. What is nice about a starting price here in Zambia is that it will drop a good bit. That is all I know about it until we go see it next week. When God lines up the money, the property, and the time to build then I will know God is saying "go ahead."
KIDS CORNER: The boys are shooting up in height and food intake. Stephen is getting used to playing by himself all morning now that Joshua has started Kindergarten. David and Mark both love to read. We bought them the Sugar Creek Gang books a few weeks ago and David is almost done with all 36 books.
Thank you for the support and prayers for us as we we represent you in Zambia.
