Opportunities - Short Term Missions
What is a Short Term Missionary?
A short term missionary is someone who wants to go to a field for at least two months and for a maximum of one year. An additional year may be approved under some circumstances. The mission in consultation with the field will approve all short term missionaries. Short term missionaries will be under the authority and supervision of the missionaries on the field and/or missionary with whom they are working. Each short term missionary is expected to share in the ministry and help in the day to day work on the field.
Several established IFM fields are open to short term missions programs. Obviously the best fields are where English is spoken or easily understood. Short term missions is not limited to English speaking fields, however we do have a work in Mexico for those who are able to speak and understand Spanish well. The opportunities on these fields vary buy may include evangelism, teaching and training of nationals, medical clinics, day school teachers, Bible Institute teachers, maintenance, building, or other general help.
